For a 0.0 fleet fit Hulk a 350m3 cargo hold for mining crystals is far short of what is required for 0.0 plex mining. Striping 0.0 plexes with belts that have 16 ore types. CCP has made using ALL Exhumers in 0.0 more difficult.
Hulks need a minimum of 1,125m3 Mackinaws need a minimum of 750m3 Skiff needs a minimum of 375m3

The Hulk's new "role" is as a fleet member - not out solo mining. You're to be expected to have your extra crystals sitting in an Orca or a mining-tender hauler, NOT sitting in your own hold. Welcome to the brave new world of actually having to be in actual mining fleets, not massive multi-boxed setups where you push one button occasionally and retarget every cycle.
AND FIX THE F**KING CORP HANGAR BUG ARGH!!!!

Use a Mackinaw or Retriever (or if you want to massively overtank - Procurer or Skiff). The Hulk is no longer the premier solo-mining ship in the game. It's be repurposed =entirely= as a fleet miner.
If you want to solo-mine, you're doing it wrong if you think you can still do it in a hulk anymore. |

The ore hold isn't even a net benefit since you fill it up in less than two full cycles maxed out, anyway (unless you're mining ice, and then you do get two full cycles :) )
Honestly, these are 'issues' that DID get brought up during testing in SiSi - a number of people complained about the cargohold sizes for exactly the same reason. It's been done this way by design.
Do feel free to disagree with the design change, but it's how CCP has decided they want max 'level' mining to be managed - as a more cooperative, fleet approach. If it also forces a bit of TIME LIMITATION, specialization, more targeted mining when a given mining group goes out, whelp, sorry about that. So you can 'only' target 4 types of ore and have the number of crystals on hand that you're accustomed to having - too bad, so sad. You still get to suck ore down for a while, and then you :GASP: get to take a break!

Honestly, I have a couple mining toons myself, and I do kinda see where you're coming from with regards to having your options being a bit more limited. I also, in my experience mining, never saw the need to carry more than a single extra set of crystals for the 2 or 3 types of ore I was mining, and any other extras I kept in my Orca. Which, interestingly, can be argued is how CCP wants mining to be done now - Orca/Mining Tender + Mining fleet, and extra crystals are held in the hauler until needed. |
